Telephone Appointments

Preparing for your telephone appointment

You will know that the call is from The Rycote Practice – because the main practice number will show on your telephone, 01844 261066.

Make sure you can receive a telephone call – ensure that your mobile phone is switched on, charged and not on silent mode on the day of your appointment, ready for your call. Please also ensure that you have somewhere quiet and private to take the call.

Be available to receive your call – we do our best to call you near to your telephone appointment time but sometimes due to workload pressures we may call you before or after your appointment time. Appointment reminders offer the two-hour window during which you should receive your call.

If you miss your call from the GP – they will attempt to call you again one more time. If you fail to answer the telephone on a second occasion it will be marked on your record as a failed encounter and you will need to rebook the appointment.

Telephone consultations are recorded – this ensures that there is an indisputable record in the event of a complaint and also serves as a training resource for our team.

Zero tolerance – Please be respectful to our staff during your telephone conversation. Disruptive or abusive behaviour will not be tolerated.

If you can’t be available for your telephone appointment, or no longer need it – please ensure that you cancel your appointment. You can use the link in your appointment reminder to cancel up to an hour before your appointment time. Failure to attend appointments wastes limited NHS resources.
