What is an eConsultation?

eConsult is a digital triage platform, endorsed by NHS England, that allows patients to seek self-help advice and make medical or administrative requests to their NHS GP practice.

Self-help advice on a range of conditions is available at Health A to Z – NHS ( . The buttons at the bottom of this page offer NHS advice specific to those conditions listed and will also give you the option to send an online consultation directly to the practice.

eConsults can be sent from 8am to 8pm on each working day that the practice is open. Clinical enquiries will be triaged by the end of the next working day. Administrative queries will be triaged within 3 working days. Response times will depend on how your request has been prioritised.

Please note that eConsultations are not suitable for all conditions. Symptoms such as abdominal pain, lumps and rectal or vaginal discharge are likely to need a physical examination and we would encourage you to call the practice on 01844 261066. Complex mental health concerns are also best addressed by calling the practice.

The following requests are best dealt with using online access (NHS App or Patient Access):

  • Checking and cancelling your upcoming appointments
  • Ordering repeat medication
  • Checking your test results
  • Viewing your medical records including consultations, immunisations and hospital correspondence

You can also send an eConsult via the NHS App – though not currently via Patient Access.
