Meningitis vaccinations available to more patients!Vaccination

Teenagers born between 01/09/1998-31/08/1999 (2017 school leaver cohort) are now eligible for urgent catch-up with Meningitis (ACWY) vaccination.

There has been high media interest following the very sad death of Lauren Sandell.  Lauren was in the vaccine eligible cohort that left school last year and was at university for less than two weeks before falling ill with Meningitis (W) disease. She had not been immunised before leaving for university and sadly her case highlights the need to vaccinate against Meningitis (W) before young people begin higher education. This will save lives.

Meningitis (W) disease continues to increase overall. Around a third of Meningitis (W) cases in unvaccinated 15-19 year olds have been fatal. There have, however, been no cases in teenagers vaccinated under the current programme.   Please click on this link to find out more information:

In addition, previous Year 13 cohorts (DOB (01/09/1996-31/08/1998) remain eligible until they reach the age of 25. Please note this vaccination will ensure immunity against different strains of Meningitis (ACWY) than the immunisations received as a baby (currently B and C).

If you would like to book in for a vaccination, please contact our Reception team on 01844 261066 and they will be able to book an appointment.
