THE RYCOTE PRACTICE - AN NHS ORGANISATION
HELP WITH ALCOHOL PROBLEMS

It can be difficult to recognise if you are drinking too much alcohol, and also confusing to know where to turn for help.

We welcome patients who are worried about their drinking to book an appointment to see a GP. We can then help you to identify the problems and offer help.

We offer both GP and specialist addictions services within the Practice.

Alcohol causes problems for physical and psychological health. The recommended limits for drinking are currently 2-3 units per day for a woman and 3-4 units per day for a man, although it is not recommended you drink this much every day of the week. As a guide, there are 10 units in a bottle of wine, 2.3 units in a pint of ale (4%) and 1.3 units in a 35ml shot of spirits.
