Routine Appointments

These can be booked up to 6 weeks in advance. Depending on how many people have already booked, there may not be appointments with the doctor of your choice available for several days. We will always do our best to accommodate your requirements. If you do not mind which doctor you see, you are more likely to be seen sooner or on the day and time of your choice.

Click here for a table showing a detailed pattern of the standard working week.

Please be aware that appointments are 10 minutes long and for one patient and one problem only. If you think you will need a longer appointment please ask the receptionist for a double appointment when booking. To make a routine appointment, please telephone the surgery on 01844 261066.

Urgent Appointments

We will always see you on the same day if there is an urgent problem. There are scheduled urgent appointments at fixed times throughout the morning and afternoon for people that need to be seen on the same day - it is vital that these appointments are used only if you have to be seen by a doctor on the same day.  Please help us to help you.  Please think twice before booking one of these appointments.  There is also the option of telephone advice (see below).

Telephone Advice

A telephone call to a GP or nurse can often resolve an issue and save you a visit to the surgery.  Please call the receptionist, who will arrange for the doctor/nurse to call you back; this will usually be at the end of either morning or evening surgery.

Home Visits

If you are too ill to come to the surgery or are housebound, we can visit you at home. Please contact the surgery before 10:00am to give the doctors time to organise their day. If you are unsure if a visit is needed a nurse can advise you. We can arrange for you to be seen quickly at the surgery if it would be uncomfortable or distressing to wait.

Saturday Surgery

We are open on Saturday between 8:30am and 10:00am. There are a few booked appointments available, followed by an emergencies-only clinic. Please phone us if you need to be seen. Repeat prescriptions, routine appointments, test results and other enquiries cannot be dealt with on a Saturday.

Extended Hours

NEW The Practice now offers a limited number of routine appointments outside of normal surgery opening hours. The earliest appointments in the practice start at 7:30am on certain days. In addition, we are open until 7.15pm on Mondays. There are also a small number of routine appointments available on a Saturday. Please telephone as you would for a routine appointment if you would like to book one of these. They may not be with the doctor of your choice, depending on the day you wish to book. We hope they will be of particular value to those who are working during the day.

Cancellations

If you cannot keep an appointment, or no longer need it, don't worry. But please let us know as soon as possible. The appointment can then be offered to someone else.

By letting us know you cannot come - even on the day - you will be helping us to make sure that everyone who wants an appointment can have one.

Special Examinations and Medicals

You may need a special examination - for example for driving, an HGV licence, insurance reasons or for travel. Please mention this at the time of booking so that appropriate time can be allocated. Please note that many of these types of examination are not covered by the NHS and we must charge for them. If you want to read more about this there is a section on non-NHS charges. For a list of charges please click here.
